The Karachi Port handled 130,630 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,910 tonnes of import cargo and 26,720 tonnes of export cargo including 4,139 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 103,910 tonnes comprised 34,972 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,557 tonnes of general cargo and 51,381 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 26,720 tonnes comprised 25,135 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,031 tonnes of general cargo; 554 tonnes of bulk cargo: 251 tonnes of flours and 303 tonnes of sugar. As many as 4,139 containers comprising 2,583 containers import and 1,556 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The brakeup of imported containers shows 810 of 20's and 811 of 40's loaded while 151 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 815 of 20's and 270 of 40's loaded containers while 9 of 20's and 96 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. A container ship namely MOL Dignity sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There are six vessels viz Hyundai Freedom, CSAV Lanalhue, UASC Ajman, Amanda, Lodestar Genesis and Cosco Tengfei with four container ships, one oil tanker and one vehicle carrier respectively are currently at the berths. There are three ships namely Hyundai Freedom, CSAV Lanalhue and UASC Ajman with three container ships sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Amanda and Lodestar Genesis with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.

A general cargo vessel viz Fu Yu Shan due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz APL Brisbane, Stream Luna, UACC Al-Medina, Golden Gion and Alpine Moment with one container ship, one base oil tanker, one jet oil tanker, one ethanol tanker and one mogas ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 32,848 tonnes comprising 31,264 tonnes of import cargo and 1,584 tonnes of export cargo inclusive nil loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 31,264 tonnes includes 19,264 tonnes of crude furnace oil and 12,000 tonnes of edible oil. The total export cargo includes 1,342 tonnes of wheat. No ships sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours. A total number of three vessels viz MT Chem Road Vega, MT Arietis and MV Sai Eternity are currently occupying berths to load/offload crude oil, edible oil and wheat respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as three ships namely CV Sealand Washington, CV Nedlloyd Tasman and MV Gas Sulawest with containers and LPG respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV Sealand Washington, CV Nedlloyd Tasman and MV Gas Sulawest with containers and LPG are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Gas Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
